Essential Nature Exhibition

Here’s a few samples of work from participants of our recent art walks. Five different local landscapes – five responses to place.

Essential Nature walks and workshops are about deepening our connection with our natural surroundings, enriching our lives and expressing this awareness in a wide variety of art forms – sketching, painting, photography, movement, performance, environmental sculpture, weaving, mixed media, creative writing… The list is endless. Sometimes a walk can have the most profound imapct by simply coming along and doing absolutely nothing at all.

Uppacott Wood: Anne Wilkinson
Fleece weaving inspired by Hartland Quay: Caroline Baxter

Rockham Bay: Caroline Baxter

Fremington Quay: Hazel Pye
‘Resting Place’ Northam Burrows: Linda Gordon

Most of all, Essential Nature is about the sheer pleasure of doing it! We have an exhibition of our work now running at the North Devon Library, Barnstaple until May 21st.

About throughstones

I am primarily a visual artist, living on the North Devon coast, a beautiful semi-rural area in South West England. I am interested in full engagement with 'place' and the eternal movement of life - particularly as it relates to what we call 'the natural environment'.
